¿Cómo se definiría artísticamente?
Como una persona que ve los límites y las barreras completamente transparentes. Artística y completamente libre.
¿Cómo cree que ha influido en su profesión el haber nacido en Cádiz?
En muchos sentidos. La manera de sentir lo que pasa por delante de mí lo interpreto en primer lugar de una manera irónica, luego intensa, seguidamente intento buscar el sentido y después lo interpreto. Y si me interesa mucho, lo analizo y sigo más adentro.
Eso es fruto de la curiosidad, la alegría, la ironía y las ganas de saber más.
Su talento ha sido ya reconocido con un Goya como reconocimiento a su labor musical, ¿qué otras facetas artísticas aparte de la música abarca?
Amo profundamente la interpretación y los espectáculos en directo. También escribo.
Adoro la pintura y estoy completamente conectado a la cocina porque me interesa mucho la conquista del gusto. Lo que ha hecho durante el confinamiento ha llegado a toda España

¿Ha servido para darse aún más a conocer?
Completamente. Recibo muchos mensajes de personas que empiezan diciendo: “Hola, te acabo de descubrir y me gusta lo que haces”. Y eso es un estímulo muy grande. Porque sientes que has conectado de una manea real y auténtica con las personas.

Hábleme de sus proyectos más inmediatos.
Estoy terminando “Flamenco District”, una colección de temas instrumentales que parten de la guitarra flamenca. Acabo de empezar a componer la BSO de la película “Sevillanas de Brooklyn”.
En primavera del 2021 estrenaremos la comedia “Operación Camarón”, , para la que he compuesto la BSO y las canciones junto a Violetta Arriaza. Trabajo directamente en algunos de los repertorios de cantantes emergentes que es algo que me sigue estimulando mucho.
Un lugar donde comer y otro donde perderse en la provincia
de Cádiz.
El Faro de Cádiz y el Transvaal (déjenme poner dos). Cualquier fondo de cualquier mar desde la Caleta hasta Tarifa. Sin levante, claro.
¿Qué nos está dejando este covid y qué nos ha quitado aparte de lo evidente?
Este covid está dejando mucha tristeza, mucha sequía, mucho
trastorno en algunas personas. Mucha incertidumbre. Una pregunta que rebota en todas las mentes conscientes es “¿qué va a pasar?”. Y el problema es que obtenemos quince mil respuestas.
Veo personas en las que han aflorado de repente agresividad, envidias, ambición y una enorme falta de respeto y consideración.
También la miseria política.
Y nos ha quitado una parte de nuestra preciosa y valiosa libertad.
Nos ha quitado el abrazo fuerte apretado y prolongado en el que ninguno de los dos sabe cuándo va a acabar ni quiere que acabe.
Y por supuesto se ha llevado a personas inolvidables. En mi caso
un familiar al que siempre recordaré

How would you define yourself as an artist?
I see transparent limits and barriers; I feel free in an artistic and
complete way.
Has being from Cádiz had an influence in your career?
In many ways. The way of feeling what is happening; at first, I see
it in an ironic way, then an intense one, and later I try to find and
understand the meaning. If I am very interested, I analyse it and
keep on searching, as a result of curiosity, joy, irony and the aim of
knowledge.
You have been awarded a Goya prize for your musical talent,
which other arts do you work with?
I love performing and live shows. I write as well.
I love painting and absolutely connect with cooking; I am highly
interested in the conquer of taste.
Your work in confinement has been a hit in Spain, are you more
famous because of it?
Absolutely. I receive a lot of messages from people that start “hi, I
have just discovered you and I love what you do”. This a real incentive, because you feel actually connected with people in an authentic
way.
Talk us about your next projects.
I am finishing “Flamenco District”, a collection of flamenco guitar
instrumental songs.
I have just started composing the original soundtrack of the film
“Sevillanas de Brooklyn”.
In spring 2021 will take place the premiere of the comedy “Operación Camarón”, in which I have composed the original soundtrack

What is leaving and taking away covid from us?
Covid is leaving a lot of sadness, block and disorder in many people.
A lot of uncertainty. Conscient minds are asking “what is going to
happen?”. The problem is that we have fifteen thousand answers.
I see growing aggressiveness, envy, ambition and a lack of respect
and consideration. I also see the political meanness.
And it has taken away our precious and appreciated freedom.
It has taken away the strong, tight, long embrace, in which any people know when it will be ended, or wants to be ended.
And, of course, it has taken away unforgettable people. In my case,
a close relative I will always remember.
